A Helpful Suggestion for User Education

Just a quick sketch / suggestion but wouldn't it be better to help educate user straight up with something like this
So they immediately can get access to the great support material you have 🙂

idk, all of these are in Learn More menu, making it big makes it easier to access but also less clear what the 1 call to action should be, meaning more overwhelming
I quite like the idea of exposing them like this. I don't think anyone is clicking on the button, I think we might have data on it in posthog
indeed, would be good to know if people are finding it, one thing I seem to have seen a lot on this discord and on twitter is people finding the initial learning curve hard (can only assume they haven’t used similar tools) so this could be a good way of pointing them in the right direction!
lol didn’t realise I had two accounts, but to avoid confusion that was me!
to use data we need to wait for the current update because before that the UI was a bit too busy, too many CTAs and colorful backgroudn
also Idk if it was clear but this screen is only visible when you don't have any projects at all, after the first project you don't see that middle section.

If anything there needs to be another, more visible place to see all kinds of content if that button on top doens't work.
I think when user starts first time, they won't go read all the docs, at max they would watch a short video and most likely not even that, they would create a project right away in 90% of cases I think.
we may need a permanent section that is more visible than a button but takes significantly less space than the current proposal in this thread, otherwise we can't make it permanent
Alternative is we have multiple pages and first page is 100% dedicated to learning, then big cards are possible and user has to go to projects from the left sidebar to see the projects
This might be not the worst idea to always start with news/updates and education
Could get complex having multiple pages but the different sections sounds like a great idea! Similar to how Framer used to have the colorful cards above the projects to advertise new plugins or tools
we will have to think a lot about the dashboard design moving forward also considering what happens once we have a marketplace for templates and collaborative reviews and such
Indeed, all things that are incredibly valuable to new users.
Could have something like this (From UntitledUI templates) that can advertise recent videos made / templates uploaded in a richer format.

right, though our topic here was how to make people learn, which is hard, I don't think they learn just because you put big boxes that lead to content in front of them, the timing when they learn is deciding, when they enter webstudio first time there is no way they would learn anything beyond a quick video
I think the only thing that matters is that they find the links when they need them
Ok I got inspired by this topic and made this, wdyt?

Love this.

2cents.

Chat on discord -> Join the community

Discuss on Github -> Contribute to Webstudio

Is it possible to get them all on one line and center the text horizontally?
I changed the wording we had before so it tells you what you can do there.

Join the community tells me nothing

Contribute to Webstudio - this is also not clear, that link goes to gh discussions specifically
I describe the function: chat, discussions etc
Re layout check out latest version in #current-status
Agree with everything outside of the community part. Chat on discord kinda means nothing to me, community is what I'm looking for when using other builders

But also not tied to the idea, just happier it's there 😄.
Yeah this is fab! Much better! I can imagine this making it so much easier for first timers!
ok changing to Join the community
