A Microsite That Looks Like Supabase

At a glance
Hey team. I have a client that wants a microsite that looks like Supabase (https://supabase.com): It's a Series B b2b startup that's about to launch a new product that has the potential for significant traction.

From a visual perspective, they like the:
  • scrolling social proof logos
  • the subtle animations when hovering over cards
  • the way the framework selector on the homepage works (hover / changes subhead text with animation)
From a functional perspective, they like the:
  • near instant page loads (when navigating between products, to dev docs, etc)
I've also got them excited about AI-assisted hyper-personalization of all content types using the agent workflows I'm building for headless CMS like Sanity and Hygraph.

I'd love to get them on a Sanity.io + WebStudio deployment for the hyper-personalized content use case. WebStudio's Dynamic Pages and Resource mapping / variables are a great fit, but I haven't been able to find any analogs to a fast-growing b2b startup with a top-notch design that handles 30-50K visits/month and uses webstudio.

IF high-quality animations are coming soon, the design flourishes seen on Supabase can wait.

Question: In the team's opinion, is current version of WebStudio ready for this kind of customer?

scrolling social proof logos
Need JS for this. Might be something in the marketplace

the subtle animations when hovering over cards
Some require JS, some are possible with CSS variables. Animations are a high prio but will be a bit until they are out. I'd integrate Motion or GSAP

near instant page loads
That's us ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ‘‹

Sanity.io
If you want to use their rich text/portable text, you'd need to use a proxy to convert it to HTML. Or you can use Markdown and that'll work natively in Webstudio. I use Sanity for my personal site, but run it through a Cloudflare Worker to convert it to HTML.

top-notch design that handles 30-50K visits/month and uses webstudio.
Look no further than https://webstudio.is/ ๐Ÿ˜‰
duh, the webstudio site is a great example! Is there anyone that you know that can do something of that quality with Webstudio + get Sanity spun up? Also open to Hygraph
I know that would be your wheelhouse in your previous role
But is there a you-like person who is still freelance?
Those don't quite have the level of polish we're going for.

e.g. https://www.opus.pro/homepage
the Webstudio site is great, though.
If there's a freelancer who can make John-level sites in WS and knows their way around Sanity or Hypgraph, please send them my way
The design polish has nothing to do with Webstudio, just a choice of the designers
Try posting in the jobs-channel
Yeah, I see that. But it's hard to sell it to the client if there's no available designers who make top notch WebStudio sites
That's not the webstudio sites that need to be top notch, its the design itself.
Lots of freelancers can implement any design
Yeah. I get it. I reached out to a few great Framer designers and was like "Hey, would to this in Webstudio" and they were like "we work in Framer"
Same for webflow
I am probably not explaining it well. You need a brand designer first. Somebody go does brand stuff like colors, vibes, logo etc.
that part is handled
I know the web design > site workflow
the studios I've talked to to Brand > Figma > Framer/Webflow
in that case lots of people who have already used webstudio can do it, check out #๏ธณjobs and https://contra.com/webstudio
Most webflow builders would be able to do it too with some learning
Yeah, totally. I've told them that it would be relatively simple transition. So far, hard pass
webflow devs said hard pass?
they're making plenty of money doing Webflow and have no reason to add another tools
maybe you reached out to some busy once
yeah, the ones that work with clients like mine are all pretty busy
people who have too much stuff in the pipeline don't have time for learning and risking the timeline
there's huge demand in B2B + AI SaaS product ecosystem for Framer/Webflow site builders
But none of them get the value of headless
it's been very annoying
generally yes, but I know for a fact lots of them are half busy, lots of them struggle to find work, usually it depends if they are good at selling their services
most of them are doing simple landings
Homepage + 1-3 product pages
Maybe a blog template
people who want something non-trivial usually don't go to webflow devs, they go to engineers
but they are very good at the visual design
we are kinda breaking through this wall and giving visual developers ability to build highly scalable stuff
and I can handle the hygraph setup
yeah, I LOVE your vision
I want to be very clear about this
There is (as far as I can tell) nothing that does this composable front end
back-end agnostic
anyways, just reach out to people on contra and write a post in jobs channel, you will see who you get
Builder.io is the closest thing but they've coupled front end bulder plus a so-so headless
and also not open source, hard vendor lockin + also not a full visual development platform, it's focused on developers letting marketers/designers change some things, so code developers first appraoch
we try to remove the need for writing code for these things as much as possible and this way reduce maintenance cost
yeah. I have lots of things I want to do with WS + Sanity. For the full vision, I need native animations and (ideally) some way to put certain pages behind logins. (e.g for perononlized deal rooms). But it's already an awesome product.
@Evolver Check out the updated Webstudio homepage.. we just added hover animations to the section in the screenshot. These are 100% made in the UI; no custom code was involved... not sure where youre at in the build, but I recall you were asking about this type of thing
