Add Right Click Settings for Pages, Navigator and Canvas Sections

At a glance

The community member suggests adding simple right-click functionality to the page builder, including options like opening page settings, renaming, duplicating, and deleting pages, as well as locking/unlocking layers, copying layers to other pages, and renaming or deleting selected layers. They also suggest showing the layer name when right-clicking on a layer in the canvas.

In the comments, other community members discuss the existing functionality and whether adding these right-click options is necessary. Some feel it would be a nice-to-have feature, while others think the current functionality is sufficient and the effort may not be worth it.

Useful resources
It would be very useful to add some simple right-click functionality. I added a few screenshots of what I would add.

Pages
  • Page settings - simply to open the page settings
  • Rename page
  • Duplicate page
  • Delete page
Navigator
  • Show/Hide - the same thing as the "Show" from the right sidebar settings
  • Lock/Unlock - I consider this one crucial. The ability to lock layers to prevent accidental deletes
  • Copy to page - to copy layer to any other page. When copied, it could appear at the end or beginning of the copied page
  • Rename - to rename the selected layer
  • Delete—to delete the selected layer. If the layer is locked, it should ask to be unlocked first, then deleted.
Canvas
  • Layer name - when right-clicking a layer in the canvas, show the name of the layer on the top
  • Show/Hide
  • Lock/Unlock
  • Settings - I like how Webflow does this. They provide basic options for changing headings and image settings by opening a small window, which is useful for quick edits.
  • Rename
  • Delete
This small improvement will make editing the page a little more comfortable.

Just to be sure: you know where all of these functions are? you just want them available as context menu?
Layer name - when right-clicking a layer in the canvas, show the name of the layer on the top

I don't understand this. When you click left mouse you canvas you see the isntance name on top.
Yeah, all the functions are very easy to find, except for lock/unlock (I don't think that is available).

Adding them to the context menu is mostly as an extra. It's not needed, but it's good to have.

As for the instance name, yes, I see the instance name when left-clicking. Is adding it to the context menu, too, like this https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1235285143929880697/1235285144642916422/WS-Canva-RC-Sug.jpg?ex=6633d070&is=66327ef0&hm=177d962a1158d82769ee002908474bbbc8aa91902f30218c8bc81c36dbc1ccee&=&format=webp&width=920&height=623
how big is the pain from 0 to 10 of not having it?
Honestly, it's a 4 at best. I don't think it is absolutely needed, but it would be nice to have. Webflow has the function, but most of the context menu items it offers are unnecessary.
then its not worth the effort at the moment
not sure if this guy means the same thing .. .but Right Click for elements would be ideal .. as it is expected in any builder .. I can ctrl + D or Ctrl + C but 1. my natural instinct was to right click and copy and duplicate .. 2. it's nice that ctrl + d and Ctrl + C work cause that's what i'm used to but who's to say whoever else knows to use those shortcuts 3. right clicking gives you a full menu of what you can do with that specific element other than just copy and duplicate , for example can you convert it to something else ..etc..

as you can see in the image ,, right click is just giving me the browser right click options , i think most page builder users are expecting the right click to be taken over by the builder as it's a mroe immersive and focused experience
