Adding a Custom Domain to a Webstudio Project with an Existing MX Record

At a glance

The community member is trying to add a custom domain to a Webstudio project, but is encountering an issue where the "@" CNAME conflicts with an existing MX record used for email. The community members suggest switching the DNS provider to Cloudflare, as it would resolve the issue and provide additional features. The community members explain that Cloudflare can be used as the DNS handler while keeping the current domain registrar (LWS).

Useful resources
Heya, to add my custom domain to a Webstudio project, the tool says I need to add "@" as a "CNAME"'s name.
It actually conflicts with my DNS registrar (LWS), that says there's already an "MX" DNS record with "@" as its name, which is used to receive emails with the DNS.
It means I can't add "@" as a CNAME to register my domain name with Webstudio, because I can't remove (or edit) the MX whose name is "@" as it would disallow receiving emails on the domain.

Would anyone have a solution to it please?
Thanks in advance!

Can you screenshot whats going on? I've never ran into this issue and my records have an MX and CNAME pointing to my root
Also what provider are you using?
Huh this appears to be normal but I suspect even if you didn't have that MX record, they wouldnt let you add it because its pointing to the root.

Cloudflare uses CNAME flattening which is probably why I've never seen this
All in all, best bet is to switch your DNS to cloudflare
Sure, the error is in French though, as I'm working with a French person

Translated over to English, it says:
An error has occurred!
Your CNAME field is incorrect, or a field (A or MX) with the same name already exists in your listing.

The provider is called "LWS"
https://www.lws.fr/
I'd move the DNS to Cloudflare. You won't run into that issue there
Can I do that while keeping LWS as the provider?
Would Cloudflare technically act as something that "redirects" from the main domain name, or would it replace my current provider?
LWS would be your registrar, where you buy the domain, and Cloudflare would be DNS.

IN lws you would change nameservers to cloudflare deligating Cloudflare as the DNS handler
Okay, that makes sense! I think I've done that once. I believe that was free of charge as well (Cloudflare wise)
Thanks for your feedback and help, I appreciate it πŸ™‚
You bet. Yep completely free and Cloudflare has lot of great features
