CMS latency

At a glance

The post asks whether using a slow WordPress CMS in WebStudio would cause higher latency and more latency when fetching blog articles. The community members provide the following responses:

A community member states that yes, using a slow CMS would cause higher latency, but this is not specific to WebStudio. They mention that with a fast CMS, the process is basically instant, and they provide a link to their blog which uses a headless CMS and is "basically instant".

Another community member says that when the cache is empty, the latency is higher, but it's usually still fast with a full cache, especially if the page is visited frequently. They clarify that they are referring to server cache, not browser cache.

There is no explicitly marked answer in the comments.

When WebStudio uses a slow WordPress CMS, would that cause higher latency? Would it cause more latency in general when WebStudio has to fetch blog articles from the CMS system?

Yes. Nothing to do with webstudio though.

With a fast cms it's basically instant.

See our blog, it's using a headless cms and is basically instant. https://webstudio.is/blog
When empty cache yes, usually its still fast wiwth full cache and stays fast if page is getting visited a lot
I mean server cache, not browser
