CMS Pricing Query

At a glance

The community member, Frankie, inquired about integrating a CMS with Webstudio, asking if they need to be on a pro plan or if they can do so on the free plan as long as they don't host with Webstudio. Oleg, a community member, explained that Webstudio has account plans rather than site plans, which makes the pricing a bit more expensive. However, Oleg mentioned that if the community member hosts the site elsewhere, they only need to pay for the month they use Webstudio, as they can cancel anytime. Another community member suggested that there is also a self-hosted option that is free.

The community members further discussed the scenario where the community member builds a client's site in Webstudio but hosts it elsewhere. They confirmed that the community member can reactivate their pro account for a month to make changes to the site, rather than needing to reconfigure everything.

In a separate discussion, a community member raised a concern about the future of CMS integrations, where Oleg clarified that the issue was specific to using Webstudio's cloud hosting, and that self-hosting would not be affected. Oleg also confirmed that if the community member creates a website using pro features and then stops paying for the pro subscription, the configurations and settings will be saved and can be

Hi! Apologies if this has already been covered - but I couldn't find the info online.

To integrate a CMS, must I be on a pro plan? Or am I able to integrate a CMS on the free plan as long as I don't host with Webstudio?

I'm really keen to try Webstudio CMS, but having to pay $20 for just one project is a little steep.

Thanks,

Frankie

Hi, unfortunately we don't have site-plans, we have account plans. Its done for simplicity of the pricing system, that makes it in this case a bit expensive. But also if you are hosting somewhere else you are only paying for the month where you use it, since you can cancel any time. In this case paying for using webstudio $20 one time isn't expensive, is it?
There is also self-hosted option which is free.
Hey Oleg, thanks a lot for your response and apologies for being slow myself!

Okay that makes sense! And good point about only needing to pay the $20 to build it and then I could cancel my plan.

Just following on with this scenario then, say I built a client's site in Web Studio but hosted the site elsewhere, in 6 months time when the client would like some changes, would it be as simple as reactivating my pro account for the month to do this?
While I've got you - I do want to let you know that what I think you're building is awesome
yes, exactly, just pay for a month and cancel
Sweet! I will give that a go. Cheers mate
I would like to just remind, that Oleg suggested in different discord thread, that CMS connections will disappear (probably in the future) once user will stop paying for the PRO plan. Can you clarify it more please, @Oleg Isonen? How it works now, and how it will work in the future?

@Iwooo OP is asking about self-hosting and cancelling.

The other thread was about using webstudio cloud.

Our goal is to downgrade you to free plan as softly as possible.

You would loose access to pro features in the builder

Later on after several reminders pro features will stop working on the published site too

These would only impact you if you were using cloud, not self-hosting
Oh! Sorry, I apparently mixed pears and apples πŸ˜… Thanks for clarifying anyway! 😊
Sorry for bringing up this thread again. I want to clarify:
If I create a website using pro features and deliver it to the client, but then I do not extend my pro subscription, what will happen to the configurations I set up (the pro plan features like CMS integrations)? If I later reactivate my pro subscription, will I need to reconfigure everything again (again bind to CMS), or will those settings be saved?
Oh, cool! Thank you very much for fast response!
