Figma & Penpot

At a glance

The community member suggests Penpot, an open-source design tool, as a potential alternative to Figma for integration with Webstudio. The comments discuss the idea, with some community members expressing interest in an "image to Webstudio" feature that would be agnostic to the design tool used. Another community member mentions a comparison of design-to-code tools, including an open-source tool based on OpenAI. The discussion also touches on the increasing robustness of Penpot and the potential for integrating a design system and components library between Penpot and Webstudio.

Useful resources
I know there have been suggestions and comments on Figma to Webstudio. Keeping with opensource, I would like to suggest penpot as a contender down the road. https://penpot.app/

thanks, aware, similar to figma, its not the highest prio, especially since it will have less people who care
I think what maybe more valuable is image to webstudio
I was just watching this comparison of design to code tools: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTdjxxyYMCE

Number one turned out to be an OSS tool that is based on open AI https://screenshot-to-code.com/
that would make it agnostic to design tools
Ah... that's a great idea! Very smart making it agnostic. Thanks for the info.
Totally agree @Jeremy!! πŸ’―
hey, just circling back to this, Penpot is getting more robust nowadays. I'm thinking along the workflow - create our design system, components, and have it sync to our "components library" in Webstudio. That would be awesome πŸ˜„
