DNS help needed: I chose to host my new temp site (https://test-sdw0s.wstd.io) on webstudio and configure my DNS settings. Followed instructions, but I keep getting failure message. The C-name record you want me to make, conflicts on the DNS server. With help from chatgpt I removed both A-records and the C-name record that points to the www, but I keep getting the failure message. I can't let webstudio do it, because it doesn't know "my" hostingcompany. What to do?

Also, will the site now be hosted as a htpps://, secured, site? Or do I have to do something for that?
Now I get this notification when I try to acces the website

Checked CNAME settings, with "www" all fine, without "www" not. Can't get rid of webstudio status failure "custom hostname does not CNAME to this zone." Tried all chatgpt (and I) could think of on the DNS servers.

Hi, @Oleg Isonen, would you or anyone from your team help me getting dok5harlingen.com online? I tried it all, see above, followed all instructions, but can't get it to work. Now anyone who types the url gets https://docs.webstudio.is/errors/worker-not-found. It's too hard. I redeemed my appsumo purchase in april, your site said I did okay. Please tell me what to do to get my website online.
hi, what's your registrar?
if its godaddy or similar that don't support cname on the root/apex, here is the guide https://docs.webstudio.is/errors/domain-connection-issues-godaddy
basically www > cname
@ > www
otherwise great alternative is creating a cloudflare account and pointing your dns to it, its free
It's amazing, or maybe you did something?, but it now seems to work: https://www.dok5harlingen.com is online! Only dok5harlingen.com (without www) doesn't give a result. Is that a setting in Webstudio or Yourhosting.nl (my registrar) @Oleg Isonen
I did nothing, but dns always takes time to have effect
I know nothing about what you did or could have done
but you obviously need to direct both www. and @ somewhere
if your @ doesn't support cname, redirect it to your www
Thank you Oleg. What a coincidence. Okay, thank you for pointing me towards a solution. These settings need to be on the DNS server right, not in Webstudio?
it's been a few days, so DNS servers should have done their work. My site show when www. is not applied, with www. it is not showing because a lack of SSL certificate. According to chatgpt I should ask you to correct or issue a new certificate. Please note that I come from Squarespace and know very little technical things. Can you help me with the SSL certificate?
hey, dns usually applies within minutes, max hours
there is nothing we need to manually do with ssl
cloudflare does already all the heavy lifting for us
I don't know exactly what your issue is, most likely you are not entering the right things in your dns
I would suggest to remove anything in your dns settings that could interfere
and only add 2 records, cname and apex
that's all you needed to do
www > cname
@ redirects to www
literally 2 settings is all you needed
now without full access to your setup we can't do much
Okay, thanks, I will watch the video again. Are you asking for access? If so, to what exactly?
Well technically you should be able to figure this out based on the video.
I would suggest also to move your domain from that hosting or at least use cloudflare in between for nameservers
Its also in the video
As you already guessed using squarespace for managing your dns is not a great idea in the first place.
No no, Squarespace is the websitebuilder I'm used to. I mentioned this to point out I'm not a code writer or anything. I never host my DNS settings via Squarespace. I have a decent hostingparty, the biggest in my country. I set DNS for many websites at the same hostingparty. You advertize Webstudio as a no code solution, so I thought I would give it a try as it is much cheaper than Squarespace. But it is way harder than I thought it would be. Probably because I don't know "technical" basics. With the Webstudio website DNS settings I had help from chatgpt, check all dns settings. I probably overestimated chatgpt.
Chatgpt needs to know the situation correctly too in order to give you advice
