How the Pro Cloud “hosting” works

At a glance
The community member is new to Webstudio and has questions about how the Pro Cloud "hosting" works, specifically:

- Are website files and data visible in their own Cloudflare account? - Can they see how much data the website uses (storage and pageviews)? - How to flush the Cloudflare cache? - What are the security specifications and do they need to do anything else? - What are the hosting specifications (like RAM, CPU, etc.)?

The comments provide some clarification:

- With Pro Cloud hosting, the community member does not manage Cloudflare directly, as Webstudio uses Cloudflare to serve the website. If they want to manage Cloudflare, they would need to use a self-hosted version of Webstudio. - They can see pageviews if they add analytics or their domain to their Cloudflare account. - There is no need to flush the cache, as it's not a static website. - The hosting specifications are different from a traditional single machine, as it's a different system using Cloudflare Workers. - The Webstudio builder is decoupled from the website, so the website will remain live even if there is a Webstudio malfunction, unless Cloudflare or an API the website uses has an issue.

Useful resources
Hi everyone! I'm new here. I've been using Wordpress in combination with oxygen or bricks builder for years. I'm very impressed with Webstudio, especially as a Headless wordpress solution.

It's still very unclear to me at the moment how exactly Pro Cloud “hosting” works. I only see on the website that Cloudflare is used. Can someone please provide some more clarification:

  • Are website files etc also visible in my own Cloudflare account?
  • Can I see somewhere how much data the website uses (storage and pageviews)?
  • How to flush cloudflare cache?
  • What are the security specifications, do I need to do anything else?
  • What are the hosting specifications (like ram, cpu etc)?

Sorry I can not answer all of your questions but they are very interesting.

When you have a Pro Cloud hosting, you don't manage Cloudfare. Webstudio team is using Cloudfare to serve your website very fast to your user. So, on this plan, if I well understand, you cannot manage Cloudfare.

If you want to manage it you have to use a self hosted version of Webstudio.

But I think @Oleg Isonen would have a better answer to give you.
How the Pro Cloud “hosting” works
  • You can self-host wherever you want.
  • We offer 1 click hosting with cf
  • you can see page views if you either add any analytics or add your domain to your cf account
  • what cache? It's not a static website. Static files have a short lived cache. You shouldn't have a need to flush anything at all
  • hosting specifications - it's a different system, not a single machine, please read up on cloudflare workers
Thanks for your response!
I prefer the Pro cloud where Webstudio hosts the website.

I think this part can be unclear, especially for people who come from Wordpress. For Wordpress we are used to really looking at the specs of the server (CPU and RAM for example). Cloudflare does not work in the same way as traditional hosting parties. So that will take some getting used to.

  • I have one last question: What if the website is live. And suppose Webstudio has a malfunction, will the website remain live/will this have an effect on the website?
Thanks for your response!
Not sure what we can do to communicate better. Any specific suggestions?
Webstudio builder is decoupled from your site. So your site after deployment can not get broken no matter what you do, unless cloudflare breaks down or an API your site is using
I think if you give a bit of explanation on the website about Cloudflare Workers (how this works and the differents with traditional hosting) it will be a lot clearer for people who use traditional wordpress hosting. I am in several Wordpress communities and Webstudio is mentioned more and more the last few weeks. it is really a nice product and in most cases an excellent choice instead of Wordpress.

Keep up the good work!
Where exactly would you want to see this info?
We had this mentioned several times on the blog. I am interested to know what pages did you visit and where did you expect to find this type of information
This morning I was looking at the website again and I saw a link in the footer "Cloudflare". This page already contains quite a lot of explanation. I had not noticed this before, despite the fact that I have clicked through the website. Maybe it would be useful to put it in the menu? It is an important part of Webstudio pro cloud. And maybe in the FAQ on the pricing page?
@Bert makes sense, @John Siciliano please see where we could best incorporate that link https://webstudio.is/cloudflare-website-builder on the pricing page, since its part of the hosting offering
