Integrating an analytics solution like matomo

At a glance

The community members are discussing integrating an analytics solution like Matomo or other alternatives such as PostHog and Plausible. The webstudio features mention GDPR compliance and anonymized analytics, which sounds similar to Matomo. Some community members recommend PostHog for its free plan and open-source nature, while others suggest Plausible as a good option. The community members also provide guidance on how to connect these analytics services to a website, such as adding the script to the site header code.

Useful resources
Hi everybody, has someone already integrated an analytics solution like Matomo? Under features of webstudio it says: "We aim to achieve full GDPR compliance. We do not track users, our analytics are completely anonymized, and all data is hosted within Europe." which sounds very much like Matomo.

So on anything you create via webstudio, we're not adding any tracking whatsoever.

For our own site we use PostHog. They're also an open source statup πŸ™‚
I havnt used Matomo before though it looks solid. Pricing wise Posthog seems to have a better deal. They offer 1M events for free before you need to subscribe to a plan.

Feel free to check them out, I'm a relatively new posthog user and already a big fan πŸ™‚
Hey !
I'm using Plausible on my website, works great also πŸ™‚

hey thank you guys for the quick replies. Is there a document on how to actually connect with such service?
Generally you just need to add their script to your site header code. @John Siciliano made a great tutorial with posthog (though it should be pretty much the same with any platform).

Check out his channel here: https://youtu.be/yZmDcH1_KuQ?feature=shared
very nice, just added the custom code of posthog to the "custom code" section under "site settings" (for future reference πŸ˜‰ and basic tracking works. thank you @Alex
Perfect!! Yeah I think we released custom header code after John made the video. Your usage of it here is correct πŸ™‚
