The community member is trying to publish a customer website and is struggling with DNS configuration. They were unable to set a CNAME record on the root domain due to a conflict, so they set it on the www subdomain instead. The online support suggested using an A record redirection for the root domain, but the community member is unsure of which IP address to use.
In the comments, the community member mentions encountering a new issue and trying to set the CNAME on the root domain again, but failing. They then reverted to the www subdomain, but encountered a DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error, which they believe may be a propagation issue.
The community members discuss various options, including redirecting the root domain to the www subdomain, or setting up a Cloudflare account and using their nameservers. The community members suggest that Cloudflare does not require an A record, as it is a cloud-based service with multiple IP addresses. The community member decides to set up their client on Cloudflare, but still encounters an issue with the root to www redirection, where the A record mentioned causes a "custom hostname does not CNAME to this zone" error.
There is no explicitly marked answer in the comments.
Hi everyone I'm trying to publish my customer website and i'm struggling with DNS.... I've followed the documentation, i wasn't able to put a CNAME on root (RRPEC conflict on DNS console, they also got their emails configured there) so i've put it on www and it works like a charm. Online support suggests that i redirect using a A redirection for the root, do you have any IP i could use ?
Ok that's what i thought... they're stucked in stone age... I'll try to figure it out, and check with cloudfare if needed (but my customer also got all its email configured there...)
yep, change to cloudflare if you can entirely, if not just use cloudflare's nameserver, then you can forget about your registrar and do everything in cloudflare for $0
still got an issue with the root to www redirection, i've created the redirection rules but the A record mentioned make the "custom hostname does not CNAME to this zone."
