Merge and separate paragraph text

In the screenshot, there are two separate paragraph blocks as a typical result of a copy and paste import. Maybe user wants to merge these text blocks for simplicity. Wouldn't it be handy, if one could simply drag the second paragraph block onto the first one (both in viewport and navigator) to merge them?

Also the opposite (=splitting) may be desirable, when one wants to apply deviating styling /responsive behaviour to a text-portion. I'd find a "split to new" option neat for highlighted text. Currently, if you highlight, as in screenshot 2 you cannot even cut this text and paste it as a new paragraph text item underneath. WS will ignore your subselection and cut the full paragraph. This feels wrong.

I am aware of the necessary steps to do either manually – I just find this needlessly cumbersome.

Would it work to copy contents of the second paragraph into the first?
Yes. That would do as well. I just thought that the drag onto interaction not necessarily needed to be reserved for parent child relationships.

I found that WS ignores empty lines within a single paragraph block upon text import. Hence, your imported text might get split into much more paragraph items than in the source. Dragging a paragraph item onto the previous in the stack could be a speedy way to simplify.

You can test this out by pasting this very post into WS. You'll end up with thee paragraphs, while I wrote it as one.
It may be actually unintentional, I just tested and it falls into markdown parser, not just simple text.

Though it could be just text, then it would be a single paragraph
@TrySound wdyt, is this correct that we use markdown parser in case of plain multiline text with newlines?
We don't have paste of plain text. So I'd say it is expected. For plain text with multiple newlines we have editing mode.
right, you could create a paragraph and paste text inside, so it would be all single paragraph
You can't cut out, though...
Screenshot two. Second paragraph of my first post. Subselections are ignored.
I still don't understand what you mean
can you step by step the thing you do?
Do you mean you want fast action to split into new paragraph?
Goal. Split one paragraph item for whatever reason and with any selection in the text.

Desired flow:
Step 1: Create highlight for text portion you want to extract.
Step 2: Cut (Ctrl+X) only selection to clipboard
Step 3: Paste as text instance with same styling

Current behaviour:

Step 1: Create highlight for text portion you want to extract.
Step 2: Cut (Ctrl+X) to clipboard
Result: Full paragraph gets cut, your subselection (highlight) is ignored.
Gotcha, so the is a bug with copy paste. Full paragraph selected cuts whole instance
OHHHHHHHHHHH that's a bug, cmd+x ignores the editing mode and cuts the entire instance instead ofn just selected text
if that is fixed, then all other problems are solved automatically, right?
interestingly cmd+c/ctrl+c works as expected, copies only the selected text, no idea how we ended up having a different behavior there
Creating a paragraph first and pasting into indeed avoids needless paragraphs – so I'll know how to avoid clutter on import. I still liked instant merging of separate text blocks but I can understand that this is not a priority.
