New to Webstudio

At a glance

The community member is new to Webstudio and is comparing it to their previous experience with Webflow. They like Webstudio's generous free tier, open-source nature, and the ability to connect to external CMS/CDN, but dislike the requirement of Webstudio Pro for CMS connection and the short 14-day free trial period. They also find the video tutorials and documentation not as comprehensive as Webflow's.

In the comments, another community member responds that the 14-day trial should be enough to play with the CMS, and the $20/month Pro plan is not a huge commitment. They also provide instructions on how to enable the CMS functionality in the Webstudio templates, and share a link to a playlist of in-depth CMS tutorials.

The original community member acknowledges the helpful information and thanks the other community member for the guidance.

Hello Webstudio Team!

I'm new to webstudio and taking my first steps. I've tried with webflow before. What I liked there: they have great video tutorials not only about the Ui und functionality, but also on really building sites and the pros and cons of different design-concepts.
What I didn't like: not OpenSource an longterm cost not transperent.

What I like with webstudio: generous freee tier, OpenSource, the concept of tokens ans craft-css and tho possibility to connect to any external CMS/CDN.

What I don't like about webstudio: if I got that right, for connecting to external CMS/CDN Webstudio Pro is needed. The free trial period of 14 days is too short for me. It would be nice, if the CMS-connection could at least be activated for the craft templates to study how this works. The videos and tutorials are not as comprehensive and extensive as with webflow. Webstudio is new in the market, so I'm shure, documentation and range of functions will improve.

You did an extraordinary good job in almost no time (since 02.2023) so far!

CMS trial - 14 days should be more than enough to play with it. Also, its $20/month after that so it's not like it's a huge commitment.

Enable for templates - If you go to the Marketplace in the builder > Integrations > three dots > Open Project. You can see CMS in action there.

Content - I've made a lot of in depth tutorials on CMS and the builder. Of course there can always be more, but here's a full playlist of CMS tutorials

Everything you need to know about CMS should be in there, especially if your goal is to see how it works

Hey John! I've already watched a lot of your videos and think that they are great! I'm not a native english speaker, so I have to see some passages twice to get the content right into my brain. As I said: the "Hobby" free plan is really generous and I have no complaints about the monthly costs of the "Pro"-Plan, tey are also adequate. the builder > Integrations > three dots > Open Project was the missing link for me. Thank you very much!
