Open Source Vs Pro Version

At a glance

The community member is new to Webstudio and has questions about its features, particularly around CMS integration, GraphQL, and data fetching. They find the pricing and feature listing confusing, as some features are marked as "Pro" and not available in the trial, while others seem to be both free and paid. The community members ask if there are ways to use the CMS feature without paying, how to set up the builder locally without connecting to the cloud, and how to train client teams on the technical aspects of data fetching. The comments provide some clarification, noting that client-side fetching is free but may not be great for SEO, and that self-hosting allows more flexibility. However, there is no explicitly marked answer to the community member's questions.

Useful resources
Hi all,
I am quite new to Webstudio and was going through the features.
The tag "Open source" took me to this platform.
As I was exploring the CMS integration the GraphQL, Resources and System Resources are tagged as Pro and is not able to create variables in the Trial dashboard. And I have a bunch of questions.
  1. Do we have any other way to get data from other CMS?
  2. I checked the pricing table and it's quite confusing as the feature listing is conflicting.
  3. How do I make use of CMS feature without paying? Is there even an option?
  4. How do have the builder set up in the local machine without being connecting to cloud?
  5. In case of providing the builder for client team to work on in the future how well they should be rained to carry out such technical aspects like data fetching?
Excuse me if the question is repeated. I didnt get my answers from the threads I went through. Can someone please help me understand things better?

  1. Resource is how you get data with server-side rendering. On the client you can fetch it directly from the client, this is free.
  1. Please be specific. We are working on a new pricing page to fix any questions.
  1. Only if you use client-side fetching which won't be great for SEO. Essentially free in webstudio cloud is static or for dynamic free you have to self-host.
  1. how can we tell without knowing anything about the team?
@Oleg Isonen Thanks for the answers.
Maybe I will try this when set up in local. From the cloud dashboard it was tagged "Pro" and was not available.
that's correct, we haven't set up a trial yet for trying these things out but I can give you a coupon if you want
The listing under "Webstudio Cloud Hosting Plans" and "Features" are confusing. What to infer from the term Open source, free and paid features.
Will this be possible if the CMS (say wordpress) and Webstudio set up is residing in the same local environment? If not I would like to get a coupon. It will be great help!
can you name a few example questions that you have and the page doesn't explain well?
we don't care how you set it up if you do it locally/self-hosted. You can do anything.
When you self-host you are on your own and can do anything you want.
Under teh heading "Webstudio Cloud Hosting Plans" it says "CMS Integration" is available for "Pro" plan.
But under the heading "Features" The "CMS Integration" is available for the Open Source Builder.

The same apply for the feature "Dynamic data fetching".

It confused me that it is both free and paid at the same time. Maybe not for everybody.
That's all correct
whats not clear about it?
why is that confusing? I don't get it.
You don't see the difference between Webstudio Cloud and Open source product you can self-host?
After several walk through I could. Initially it was confusing. Just wanted to mention what confused me. As I said, it might be only for me! 😌
