Renaming an Already Set Variable

At a glance

The community members are discussing how to rename an already set CSS variable. They note that the current functionality only allows resetting the value, not renaming the variable itself. Some community members suggest creating a new variable and deleting the old one, but others are looking for a more sustainable solution. The community agrees that the ability to easily rename variables is needed, and one member suggests that the "Reset Value" button should be renamed to "Delete" to better reflect its functionality. The community members also discuss the overall consistency of the variable management UI and agree that some UX improvements are needed as this is a new feature.

is there a way how to rename an already set variable?

CSS or data variable?
when I right click it, it doesnt show default chrome menu (I'm using the desktop app) ... when I hover, there is only reset option which resets the value, not variable name...

just create a new one and delete old
yea I understand that I can achieve my goal via deleting and typúing new, but I was hoping that there is more sustainable way how to handle this issue.
I will raise this issue in the team
we need something that allows easy renaming
there is no way how to know how to delete a variable. Right clicking still doesnt provide any useful info and I discovered that RESET VALUE is the way how to delete variable. But it should only reset value as the name states. But I understand, it is early version of variables and these UX tweks will be polished eventually 💪
its consistent across the entire style panel
it may be consistent, but this is new functionality. Because RESET VALUE resets value as expected. But this time I would like to reset/delete Holder of the value - this time my variable. Not its value but itself.
Yeah, we need to rename that button in this case to Delete
Yea that might do the trick 🤷 or maybe right click options would be helpfull but I dont know...
