The post suggests adding a character counter and description for the title and description fields, as there are recommended lengths for these fields. The community members discuss the current implementation, which tries to match Google's truncation algorithm. Some community members express a desire for a character counter to build trust and educate users, while others note that the current representation is already good. The community members also discuss the research and testing done to match Google's truncation algorithm.
There are recommended lengths for the title and description fields. Could a character counter be added to each of them, along with a description of how to leverage the fields?
This is a low priority for me, I think it would be neat if it was added at some point.
Idk maybe not seeing the logic going into it reduces the trust? Compared to a tool I use it provides more insights (and actually is styled like Google). maybe those are triggers for my brain to rely on it more
In terms of my original post, I just thought it would be a cool improvement down the road. A way of educating users to help them produce high quality titles and descriptions.
I have zero issues with the current choices and think it's nice as-is. It shows a great representation.
