The post asks if there is an option to use Taxonomies at this point. The community members discuss the following:
- One member asks for more elaboration on the question.
- Another member is interested in developing membership and directory sites that require taxonomy search functionality, but is unsure if the current offering meets their needs.
- A community member comments that WordPress is outdated and its code is poor. They mention that Webstudio is working on adding a CMS that will integrate with other platforms, including a future connection to WordPress to combine its blogging capabilities with Webstudio's builder and performance.
- The community members discuss that taxonomies will be available with the upcoming CMS feature in Webstudio, but it is not launched yet. They also mention that memberships are typically handled with no-code backends, and suggest creating tutorial videos to demonstrate how that can work with Webstudio.
Hi @Oleg Isonen I am not a coder, but am a person that seeks out cutting edge tech so that I dont waste time developing on out of date technology. I want to develop membership and directory sites which need taxonomy search functionality like you would create with metabox or ACF. I have no knowledge of site development outside WP. I found your LTD deal and have not hit the buy button yet as I may be too early for your offering to meet my objectives.
If you were a coder you'd know how outdated WordPress is... the code is atrocious. π Taxonomies are typically used to organized blogs or other types of content. Webstudio is currently working on adding a CMS which will really be an integration to other platforms. In the future there will be a connection to WordPress so you can use the amazing builder and performance of Webstudio while also combining the blogging capabilities of WordPress such as taxonomies and custom fields. Haven't thought through how this would work with membership but seems like that feature would be far out. As for directory I run a decent sized one between drupal and wordpress and 10,000% would rather do it on Webstudio once the CMS integration is launched late this year or early next year. Hope that helps! PS... I don't work for Webstudio but am a purchaser of the lifetime deal myself.
BTW this is a comment I found a while ago that encapsulates how poorly the backend of WordPress is. It really needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, but doing so would render every existing plugin incompatible and need to be rewritten
