the 500 error and failed publish notifications

At a glance

The community member is experiencing issues with publishing content, where they sometimes encounter a 500 error when publishing through the builder. They are unsure of the reason for this. Another community member suggests that they need a reproducible example to provide any further assistance, but the original poster states that they have a current error project they can share, which is a home page that is causing the 500 error. However, the original poster notes that they do not need help debugging the project, as they will fix it themselves, and they are just using it as a testing ground.

Useful resources
Actually, it looked like it was published in the builder and I didn't notice the 500 error until I looked at the URL. Other times it's told me that it's failed within the builder (or on the publish menu, I don't remember where). Would there be a reason for that?

need a repro to say anything
I have the current error project if you want to see that. It's the home page that I publish and get the 500 error on. There's no need to debug my project; I'll fix that later. It's just a testing ground for me.
