the best way to publish a client's first webstudio site

At a glance

The community member is about to publish their first webstudio site for a paid client and is wondering whether to keep the site on their own account or create an account for the client and clone the site to the client's account. The comments discuss the benefits and downsides of each approach, such as login access, shared links, and the potential introduction of teams/workspaces. The community members suggest that the decision ultimately depends on the client's preference and the community member's own business model (e.g., working on a retainer basis). There is no explicitly marked answer, and the community members seem torn between the two options.

hey guys, i'm about to publish my first webstudio site for a paid client, and i'm wondering what's the best way :
  • should i keep the site on my account ?
  • or should i create an account for the client , then clone the site on his account, then publish from his account ?
It's a 5 pages with no pro features

Its entirely up to you
benefits and downsides should be clear: your account - your login
user will have to use shared link if they want access to builder
same the other way around
up until the point where we introduce teams/workspaces to invite users by email
ok, i'll ask my client what he wants to do
also pageviews - 10k is on free plan
I guess they won't need more but if they do question is who pays)
freelancers who work with clients on a retainer basis, usually would want to keep the project under their account
yeah, i'm torn between the two options. I'd like to work on a retainer basis, but i prefer when clients have their own account for everything (we don't know, i could be hit by a truck tomorrow)
I guess in that case client will reach out 🤣
