The Highlighted Website Example Leads to a Scam Amazon Ripoff Website

At a glance

The post indicates that the website example on the Webstudio home page leads to a scam Amazon ripoff website. The community members discuss what happened, with one member (Matheus) explaining that they had changed their domain and asked someone to update the link, but the old domain was still linked on the Webstudio site. They believe the old domain was taken over by scammers. The community members suggest that Matheus try to regain ownership of the old domain, but he says he won't be able to as the scammers have taken it over.

in the webstudio home page, the highlighted website example leads to usmabit (dot) com. But that opens a scam amazon ripoff website.

thank you so much for pointing it out, how the hell has this happened
hey @Matheus what happened to your website?
changed the url to the new url of the designer
I will assume they changed the domain and freed up the old one and scammers bought it
That's right, I had changed my domain and asked John to make that change in the areas where he promoted me
I just don't know how my old domain was still linked to Webstudio
Thinking about it, I believe your browser cached an older version of the site (the domain change happened at the end of February)
I don't know, we probably missed that link on the landing, I jsut changed it.
Thanks for pointing this out. I had only changed the gallery page and forgot about home.

We blasted that out on socials too. Really not a good idea to change domains without keeping ownership over the first one. That's lost traffic and SEO signals while redirecting old -> new maintains them. If you can get it back, i'd recommend doing so
Scammers took over it, won't be able to get it back
Unfortunately, all I can do now is wait for the domain to expire and then try to buy it back
Doesn't matter, all good.
