Viability of using webstudio in production and overcoming challenges.

At a glance

The community members discuss the viability of using Webstudio in production. One community member states that Webstudio is production-ready, but notes that some features like robust animations may require integrating external tools. Another community member mentions encountering some issues with exporting sites, such as long wait times and lack of feedback, but the Webstudio team responds that they have not seen such long export times in their logs and suggests the community member try exporting again. Overall, the community members express confidence in using Webstudio for production websites, with one community member sharing they have multiple production sites running on the platform without issues.

Hello people, I would like to ask if it's viable to use Webstudio in production already and if you had faced some challenges with it? if yes. how do you overcome them?

Thank you very much

Webstudio is entirely production grade. Question for you, did anything you see make you think otherwise?

As for challenges, I would refer to the roadmap to see if there are any features you need that aren't built yet. For example, some people want robust animations and in that case you would need to integrate something like Gsap or motion.dev
No, I guess. aside some "good to have features" like the components that are already underdevelopment my question is about some bugs that can happen. I don't mind coding my own things either πŸ™‚
Of course bugs will happen. You'll find the team addresses bugs, especially ones with bigger impacts, very quickly. But overall the platform is very smooth. This is coming from someone who spends a lot of time in the builder.

If there is anything out there that made you even hesitate about the production-status of Webstudio, I'd love to hear. Maybe I just need to create a page targeting this very question πŸ™‚
well. my first experience months ago was not so smooth. I was using it to build a site then export it. but it doesn't worked. later I noticed that it works but it takes so long and have no feedback that it's doing it.

in that case. maybe a progress bar could avoid this feeling that "I click and nothing happens". πŸ™‚
Are you exporting a static site from the builder or using the cli?

nope. the green button.
one day it took so long it looked like broken
You don't see those three dots?
yes I do. but it was taking so much time on it.
Can you run an export now so I can see how long it takes? I'll check the build logs once you start it
sure, do you want an "empty" site?
The one that's giving you issues
I just exported the Webstudio site and it took 56 seconds which is about normal
hmm. I probably don't have it anymore. it was months ago
The builds are done via GitHub Actions. Potentially there was a temporary disruption. Or maybe there was some issue with exports idk. Checking logs I don't see a single one over one minute. Seems like most are in the 30 seconds. Feel free to raise the issue if you see it again and we can look into it
sure, thank you very much. with this level of support I feel so much confident to bring clients now πŸ™‚
I think that for those who come from Webflow, it may have been strange how long it took to publish (I was surprised myself). However, it is not something that has that much of an impact, and perhaps in the future this delay in publishing will decrease
@waltermelo2017, I currently have 3 production sites up using Webstudio. They are all basic marketing sites, but I've had zero issues with the process.

I am building out some more complex things with multiple API connections and it's all been pretty smooth so far, but I haven't put any of those items live yet.
