video backgrounds

At a glance

The community members are interested in using video backgrounds in headers and other parts of their websites. They discuss that Webflow has a module for this functionality, but it is not yet available in Webstudio. The community members provide some workarounds, such as using Vimeo player options and positioning the video via the style panel. They also mention that there is a tutorial available and a plan to simplify this process using commands. Additionally, the community members suggest using the marketplace and a template as potential solutions. One community member expresses a desire for a dedicated "video" component that would allow uploading a video file or using a URL, rather than relying on Vimeo.

Useful resources
Would really like to have the ability to use video backgrounds in headers etc. Currently using WebFlow so their solution is perfect example for usecase.

You can. There is even a video tutorial on YT channel
Ah awesome thanks. In webflow there's a "module" for it. I didn't spot the module in webstudio
the module does nothing but basically positioning a video behind content in a div
Yeah but it does allow for the uploading of media and the background positioning, height, auto-start, loop video, etc settings all to be set in the module. This makes it easier to do. I can do this manually but I'm not familiar with GUI web development just yet. My work background is 20+ years of asp.net c# development, and now js frameworks with API, code only development basically.
auto start etc is vimeo player options we provide too
positioning is certainly possible via style panel
backgrond video is really just a wrapper around are regular element positioned as a backgrond element
we have a tutorial for that
we have a plan for simplifying this type of stuff using commands
also marketplace will be probably helpful too
Would be nice if there was a dedicated "video" component. Which would allow us to upload a video file or use a url instead of having to use vimeo.
