Webstudio self-hosting and pro features usage

At a glance

The community member is interested in using the open-source version of Webstudio to build a website for their local sports club, as they want to keep costs low. They ask if they can use the pro features like CMS integrations by self-hosting the open-source version, or if they need to buy a monthly plan.

The comments indicate that self-hosting the Webstudio builder is currently difficult, but will improve soon. One community member suggests that $20/month for unlimited sites is a low cost, and that using the CLI gives access to the full app including CMS integrations, which is relatively easy and free. Another community member apologizes for the tone of their previous response, acknowledges that a one-time fee is easier for the club to account for than a monthly subscription, and says they will likely invest in the lifetime subscription.

There is no explicitly marked answer in the comments.

Hi Guys,
I really enjoy Webstudio so far! I have built an awesome website for my own locale sports club. We are pretty small, so i want to keep the costs low. If i self host the open-source version of webstudio, can i then use the pro features as cms integrations? Or do i have to buy a montly plan for that aswell.

Appreciate the answer!

On top: I've found no instruction to self host web studio builder. I only found a instruction for self hosting sites build with the webstudio web application.

No, you are trying to make it entirely free, $20/m for unlimited sites is what I call low cost

Using CLI gives you the entire app including CMS integrations you made in builder, so its alrady relatively easy and free
I thank you for the time you took to answer me.

Being honest, i really don't like the tone your setting in here. I may have been unprecise with my question, which lead you to assume i just want get everything for free. Please just take this as plain feedback.

However, it think you and your team are doing a really good job at developing a great tool. I'm in ongoing discussions with the club management and we will propably invest in the lifetime subscruption. Funnily enough, it's way easier to get a one-time-fee accounted for as a club compared to a monthly fee of 20 dollar.

I also have to agree 20 Dollar a month is very very fair price for webstudio, esspacially looking in to the future. But as I have the duty to make the best possible decision for the club i had to discover all possibilities. I have read "open source" and came to the conclusion "it could be possible free". I know that is not the meaning behind open source, but still.

Have a great Weekend, again, thank you for the time you took.

Well sorry if I am wrong, I read it this way
"it could be possible free".

And it is
At least its free in the sense you wouldn't pay us
You would either leverage free tiers by some other platform and have the cost of maintaining the setup
